Fort Csillag

A brick structure built between 1852-1870 in conjunction with Fort Monostor, on the site of the former St. Peters Fort that dated from the 17th century. 


  
It is the oldest member of the fortification system of the town, the predecessor of which St. Peter's palisade, was build by order of Miklos Plffy, commander of the fortress in 1586. The Fort Csillag contorlled the mouth of Vag- Danube, The fortress was rebuilt between 1871 and 1877 in the spirit of the military architecture of the age.

It differs from the other the other two fortresses int hat it was defended by a wide moat, and not by corridor with buttlements. After 40 years it was opened for the public in 2005.

Fort Igmndi

Constructed of massive unfinished stone between 1871-77, in conjunction with Fort Monostor. It was the final element completed in the system of fortifications.

It is the youngest member of the chain of fortifications, which was built between 1871  and 1877. Its curiosity is the cross entrenchments which porvided the defence against the effect of splinters of enemy's fire. they can be seen now in their original state.
